One of the things we do at Kim Media Group is scan different news outlets and use all fronts to bring you the best news analysis fitting for the Diaspora. We do this to make sure that our reports are consistent with facts. Therefore, when we saw the newsflash on Kenya ’s Standard newspaper “ODM’s Coup in Parliament(Standard online, May 17-18), we were shocked and could not help but exclaim: “We told you so—first!”. Dr. Teddy Njoroge Kamau, KEN Senior Editor and International Bureau Chief wrote about this in his May 8, 2008 editorial, stating: The ODM Pentagon members are not in the government to promote development and national progress, which would give credit to President Kibaki. As Raila Odinga said one time during his many press conferences, “Watu wanaona simba ameyeshewa wanafikiri ni Paka. Lakini ni Simba.”

“Woe unto those who think that all is well. Woe unto those who walk close to the Simba aliyeshewa wakidhani ni Paka. The plan right now is to use Parliament to get Kibaki and his people out. There will be a coup, but it will be a legal one, coming from the halls of power under the quest of a national Coalition Government.” (See his adjacent article featured online initially on May 14th 2008 on http://www.kimmediagroup.com/content/view/435/668/ and also on Africanpath.com)

This prediction has come true and those who shouted “Foul!” have been silenced! The Grand Coalition Government is nothing but a marriage of convenience. Majority of Kenyans agree that President Kibaki is a sick man. Also it is clear that State decisions have to be approved by Her Majesty Lucy Kibaki. The President is asleep on the wheel and ODM senses that the leadership has no power. PNU has no leadership! The man who could be leading, Uhuru Kenyatta, is always on cloud nine thanks to his love of Tusker and VAT 69 for power! The outspoken and vibrant defender of the Constitution, Martha Karua, was run out by the State House. Kalonzo Musyoki is like the proverbial dog running with its tail between its legs. Maybe PNU has a chance with Mutula Kilonzo, but he seems alone. John Michuki is a member of the old Wazee hukubuka! The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Wentagula, is brilliant and should have been the Deputy Prime Minister! Of course PNU has intelligent men like Dr. Wilfred Machage, who should be the Minister for Health. He is the only man who can take on Odinga one-on-one and win. But he is a Kuria and they are not many. Beth Mugo is married to the ‘Violent man’.

ODM is winning the battle of brains in the Parliament. Though it is clear that Raila Odinga will never become Kenya ’s President, he still holds to the belief that certain tribal groups in Kenya should be eliminated and their property divided among the poor. His friend Ruto holds on, hoping that one day Rift Valley will be free of Kikuyus. Mudavadi is honestly a balanced character but has to drive through Kisumu to go home. He would not like his car to be burned on the way home! You see then that there is no Grand Coalition and what is there is a political Coup D'etat in the making. Let us hope we get to the next elections and pray that a progressive, forward-looking person like Dr. Teddy Njoroge Kamau runs for office.
