Exposing the Global Warming Myth of the 21st Century

The hash winter of 2009 seems to finally be coming to an end at least in Chicago. It is June and the temperatures are still in the low 50s and 60’s. In some other regions in the great white north temperatures are still below Zero, which is not a surprise to many of the residents who live in these places. There is a saying here in Chicago, “if you do not like the whether stay for a while.” Because it’s going to change without a notice. This years massive snowfalls have blanketed the Peace Garden State for months and the end of this cold stuff seems to still be at a distance. Similar climatic situations have been reported in the western, mid-western and eastern states of the U.S not to mention Canada and other European countries.

I believe the people of Fargo and those living on the river banks of the Mississippi are still paying the price due to the flooding and high river levels. The Red River was jammed with more than 40 feet over normal river markings and flooded everything that wasn’t protected by the heroic efforts of North Dakota citizens and the National Guard. So, I ask you, what is the cause of all the cold, the snow, the ice and the flooding? Global warming, of course would be the most suitable answer for the proponents of the global warming theory.

According to Kate White, a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, “climate change caused by global warming likely is changing ice conditions and adding to the unpredictability” of ice jams along the Red River, so she said during the recent flooding crisis in the Dakotas.

Let me see if I get this right. A “near-record snowpack,” along with below-normal temperatures, have led to more ice, which is acting unpredictably because of global warming? Well, something does not add up here but correct me if I am wrong. What am I not getting from Kate White’s statement? I’ll tell you what I am getting. What is am getting from these proponents and from former Vice President, Al Gore is more proof that apocalyptic visions of global warming are driven by a particular worldview. Forget the scientific facts.

Even our very own President Obama, at least to some degree, has bought into it. Here’s what he had to say sometimes back when referencing to the global warming issue: “I actually think the science around climate change is real. . . . If you look at the flooding that’s going on right now in North Dakota . . . that indicates the degree to which we have to take this seriously.” Ladies and Gentlemen of the African Diaspora please help me out here. Is the record snow fall scientific explanation of the global warming? Does record snow fall equal to or a result of global warming?

My fellow kin folk and “grafted” brothers and sisters, and citizens of the planet earth, what we have to take seriously is the fact that our worldview determines how we see the world and how we live in the world. Despite the fact that the globe has been cooling since at least 2002, or that near-record cold and snow have plagued much of North America all year long, all the proponents of global warming can see is—well and shout from the mountain tops is, global warming.

The Antarctic and Greenland ice caps will melt the story line continues, we are told, warming oceans will expand, and the results will be catastrophic. Although the UN's Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) only predicts a sea level rise of 59cm (17 inches) by 2100, Al Gore in his Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth went much further, talking of more than 20 feet, and showing computer graphics of cities such as Shanghai and San Francisco half under water. This is why its adherents in Congress and in the White House want curbs on greenhouse gases, potentially ruinous cap-and-trade policies, and curbs on oil exploration (at a time when we need to decrease our dependence on foreign oil). And if in the near future you start paying upwards of $5 a pound for ground beef, thank those in Congress who want to tax cow flatulence as a way to combat global warming.

As the New York Times relates, renowned physicist Freeman Dyson has called the “climate change an ‘obsession’—the primary article of faith for ‘a worldwide secular religion’ known as environmentalism.” Dyson accuses the adherents of this earthly religion of “relying too heavily on computer-generated climate models that foresee . . . imminent world devastation as icecaps melt, oceans rise and storms and plagues sweep the earth.”

If there is one scientist who knows more about sea levels than anyone else in the world it is the Swedish geologist and physicist Nils-Axel Mörner, formerly chairman of the INQUA International Commission on Sea Level Change. And the uncompromising verdict of Dr Mörner, who for 35 years has been using every known scientific method to study sea levels all over the globe, is that all this talk about the sea rising is nothing but a colossal scare story and a money searching proposal.

Despite fluctuations down as well as up, "the sea is not rising," he says. "It hasn't risen in 50 years." If there is any rise this century it will "not be more than 10cm (four inches), with an uncertainty of plus or minus 10cm". And quite apart from examining the hard evidence, he says, the elementary laws of physics (latent heat needed to melt ice) tell us that the apocalypse conjured up by Al Gore and Company could not possibly come about.

The reason why Dr Mörner, formerly a Stockholm professor, is so certain that these claims about sea level rise are 100 per cent wrong is that they are all based on computer model predictions, whereas his findings are based on "going into the field to observe what is actually happening in the real world". The models aren’t holding true which is why the global warming scientists and their lobbyists need to re-examine their narrow minded worldview.

These guys need to step out of the computer lab and take a walk. But they’d better bundle up first because it’s cold out there. You may have noticed that some of President Obama’s most ardent supporters speak of him in almost messianic terms. But there’s one public figure who apparently means it literally: James Hansen of NASA.

Hansen, who is the “father” of the global warming movement, recently told the U.K. Guardian that the new President “has only four years to save the world.” Unless we implement drastic measures like a “moratorium on new power plants that burn coal” and a hefty “carbon tax,” we face an apocalyptic future—“global flooding, wide-spread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns.” Of course, Hansen’s warnings made headlines around the world. Not only because “doom and gloom” sells today, but because the mainstream media treats any claim about man-made global warming theory with the utmost credulity. Thus, last summer, when a “researcher” claimed that global warming might lead to more violent earthquakes, news outlets trumpeted the story to the rest of the earthenians. Who has bought into this theory yet? In their haste, they neither asked how warmer temperatures can cause earthquakes nor checked the researcher’s credentials. Who can come up with a new prophecy that at least people can belive in?

On a similar note, less comical but no less telling and media coverage are the stories about the “disappearing” Arctic ice. A year ago, we were told that the Arctic had reached a “tipping point” and that Arctic ice could be “completely” gone, with dire consequences for polar bears and Santa Claus and his deer park within five years. Well, the news from Santa is that all is okay so long as we have the Christmas season in our calendars. Santa will always deliver despite the snow content. What you probably haven’t heard is that, by October, that same Arctic ice covered 29 percent more area than it did the year before and that by the end of the year, it was approaching its greatest mass since 1979. And it’s still growing. Come on Scientists, Al Gore and other big mouthed and empty suits. Why mis-lead us?

I want to let these people know that there are countless other examples of where real-world facts conflict with global warming theory, not the least of which is that the earth has been cooling since at least 2003 and arguably since 1998 and as the chairman of the International Geological Congress has asked, “For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?” And for those of us shivering this winter to this spring are asking the same question.

Therefore given the level of dissent and skepticism on this subject, we ought not to let ourselves be panicked and stampeded into taking drastic and costly measures. Nor should we allow the claims about “scientific consensus” to scare us. First, remember, there is no such consensus; and, second, scientists are just as prone to peer pressure and groupthink as everybody else. Come on my fellow kinfolk and the people of the Diaspora and my fellow earthenians. Here is my advice, Do things the way you have always done them. No fear of a global warming hoax. But please plant more trees, preferably indigenous trees.
